SLV Community Came Together to Support 3,500+ Students in 2025 School Supply Drive
In 2025 SLV Community Solutions partnered with Adelante Family Resource Center (a program of La Puente Home, Inc.) to organize a school supply drive for students all over the San Luis Valley.
In this year's school supply drive we raised $34,000 (as well as supply donations) and served 3,501 PreK-12th grade students who received free school supplies through community-based distributions across 5 counties of the San Luis Valley including Costilla, Conejos, Saguache, Rio Grande, and Alamosa. This is nearly triple the number of students served at last year’s distribution.
Surveys were collected to measure the impact of this effort and to better understand households in each county. In these surveys and with data shared from the school district, we noticed 28% of attendees were grandparents. When data was shared from South Conejos School District, we discovered that 65% of students are being raised in untraditional families where grandparents or other relatives might be raising students on a limited fixed income. These lived experiences can create barriers for households to qualify for programs including social security income and may affect other health program eligibility.
You can view more insights from the surveys we collected in these distributions in the snapshot below.

This effort was also done in partnership with local school districts, volunteer organizations and with the generous support of donors who helped raise the funds that made this effort possible.
